We spend billions of euros every year on the procurement of raw materials and non-raw materials. Responsibilities are divided between product-related goods (PR) and non product-related goods (NPR) within a structure of 12 spend areas. This allows us to create value by acting as a sophisticated partner for our business units and suppliers.

Our Sourcing budget amounts to billions of Euros annually. Achieving our Sourcing objectives requires detailed analysis, along with the macro planning and implementation of procurement programs and processes.

Sourcing Analyst

The objective of the job is to enable superior purchasing results, thereby delivering superior results across the organization, through the analysis and reporting of information and results. As such, this represents an outstanding second career step for agile and stress resistant professionals able to work under minimal supervision and drive success within AkzoNobel Sourcing.

The position is located in Arnhem, the Netherlands, and you will be part of a multinational and multicultural organization that is committed to your personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities and deliverables
Within this context you perform a number of core activities:

Analysis and Reporting
This is fundamental to our Sourcing policy and involves gathering and assessing data with regard to specific functional or geographical activities. The analysis of both historical data and the current situation is important as you work closely with colleagues within both Sourcing and the relevant Business Units (BUs). This analysis leads to detailed reports in which you make recommendations that will improve our procurement processes. You then work to implement new strategies and standardized processes, while monitoring and benchmarking the performance of suppliers. At all times, you are encouraged to provide ideas and input for the overall improvement of our organization and process.

High level planning
You play a lead role in developing and implementing programs and processes such as Key Supplier Management and the development of Strategic Sourcing Strategies. In doing do, you work closely with the Spend Area Managers and BU Purchasing Managers. You are also involved with developing and implementing price forecasts and mechanisms for raw material and non-product related materials and services, while providing advice on the impact on spend areas. The development and standardization of tools for the Sourcing community is key.

Candidate profile
To apply for this position you must possess the following attributes:

  • University degree (preferably Chemical/Technical, or Economics/Business Administration with a demonstrable affinity with Chemistry);
  • Up to five years of relevant work experience;
  • Structured, accurate and numerate with the powerful analytical skills necessary to dig deep into the numbers and achieve the desired results (Excel, Access);
  • Ability to perform, understand and present detailed information analysis and evaluation (PowerPoint)
  • Team worker and team builder able to apply interpersonal skills across different levels of seniority in all relevant AkzoNobel organizations;
  • Good presentational and communication skills including a high standard of written and spoken English, with Dutch as a high preference.
